Position Summary: The Electrical/Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling complex industrial machinery by integrating mechanical and electrical components. This hands-on role is vital in building custom capital equipment—such as mechanical screw presses, hydraulic systems, and rebuilds—based on detailed engineering specifications. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, electrically proficient, and thrives in a team environment focused on precision, quality, and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble mechanical and electrical systems using blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Route and terminate wiring—including three-phase power, DC circuits, PLC I/O, and analog instrumentation (temperature, level, pressure, flow)
- Read, analyze, and interpret electrical schematics for industrial machinery
- Install electrical components according to engineering documentation and the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure tight tolerances and exact fits
- Test functionality and document results using tools such as multimeters and meggers
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with motors, heaters, PLCs, valves, and safety circuits in collaboration with engineers and production
- Build capital equipment from start to finish, supporting custom and one-off builds
- Operate shop tools and machinery, including drill presses and overhead cranes
- Assist with other tasks to support production workflow
- Occasional travel to customer or supplier sites may be required
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology is a plus
- 5+ years of experience assembling industrial or capital equipment
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation
- Demonstrated working knowledge of NEC compliance and safe electrical practices
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Analytical problem-solver with experience using diagnostic tools and testing devices
- Skilled in applying basic algebra, geometry, and handbook equations for technical tasks
- Experience with hydraulic systems is highly valued
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in a shop environment
- Fork Truck license preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
