The French Oil Mill Machinery Company will exhibit at OFI International 2026, 21 to 23 September at the Amsterdam Congress Centre, Park Inn by Radisson, Amsterdam City West, the Netherlands. Find us at Booth 17 in the OFI International Networking Exhibition.
OFI International brings four conferences together in one venue: the OFI Commercial & Technical Conference, the DGF Contaminants Conference, the Euro Fed Lipid Oleochemistry Conference, and TRIACT Oleochemicals Training. The networking exhibition runs 22 and 23 September alongside them, which means the people at the tables are the same people in the technical sessions.
What We Will Be Discussing at Booth 17
French has supplied oilseed preparation and extraction equipment since 1900, with more than 1,000 roller mills and screw presses installed in over 80 countries. Three areas we expect to spend the most time on in Amsterdam.
Mechanical Extraction Without Solvent
Cold pressing and full pressing put the oil under thermal stress that solvent extraction does not. Heat generated by friction inside the press degrades both the crude oil and the cake, and controlling it is the difference between a marketable extra virgin product and a commodity one.
French Achiever screw presses are built with water cooling on the main cages as well as the main shaft, which helps limit frictional heat buildup during hexane-free extraction and supports a lighter coloured cake and better oil quality.
Achiever models are also supplied for prepressing ahead of solvent extraction, so the same press line serves conventional crushing and specialty cold-pressed production.
Boutique and Specialty Oils
European processors working outside the major commodity oilseeds face a specific problem: there is no reference data for the material they want to press. Every seed behaves differently under pressure and shear, and equipment sized for rapeseed will not necessarily work for something else.
French's Innovation Center development laboratory in Piqua, Ohio exists for exactly this. Materials run through the lab include grape seed, walnut meats, apricot kernels, coffee beans, chilli peppers, marigold, paprika seed, cherry and peach pits, algae, and a long list of others alongside the conventional oilseeds.
Laboratory and Pilot Scale Trials
The Model L-250 Laboratory Screw Press and French's pilot scale and semi-works presses are used to run performance trials on customer feedstock before any capital equipment is specified.
During a trial, French engineers vary conditioning temperature and moisture, screw shaft arrangement, screen bar spacing, and cage and shaft cooling to find the combination that maximises oil recovery while limiting heat degradation. If the trial confirms the target results are achievable at pilot scale, that data feeds directly into the design of the production system.
French offers confidentiality agreements covering trial work, so proprietary process development stays proprietary.
Why Talk to Us in Amsterdam
Specifying an extraction line from a capacity table rarely ends well, particularly for materials with no established processing history. The useful conversation starts with the actual seed, the target oil quality, and the throughput required, and works backwards to the press.
Booth 17 is for that conversation. Bring the material you want to press, or the process problem you have not solved.
About French Oil Mill Machinery Company
The French Oil Mill Machinery Company was founded in Piqua, Ohio in 1900 by Alfred W. French Sr. to build machinery for extracting linseed oil from flax. It remains an ISO 9001:2015 certified, fourth-generation family-owned U.S. manufacturer, supplying oilseed preparation and extraction equipment including cracking mills, flaking mills, conditioners, screw presses, and Enhanser presses, alongside custom hydraulic press systems and polymer processing equipment.
French supports equipment in the field through aftermarket parts, repair, rebuild, and retrofit services.
